Domain Names
If you are starting a new business on the Internet, it is important to register a Domain name that reflects what you sell, if it is not to be the company name. Adopting this naming convention will give you higher rankings with the search engines such as Google. Try to use the words that your customers would use in Google. If your audience is predominately UK-based, then use a .co.uk Domain suffix, and possibly acquire the .COM name, if available. The .COM Domain name can be forwarded to your .co.uk Domain name, therefore you only need to host and maintain the .co.uk site. Alternatively, a Landing Page ( in this context is, One Page to describe what the proposition is, with a link to your main site) could be designed for the .COM Domain name. Your existing Domain name can be used to host your new Webshop, once the relevant transfer instructions that we supply have been followed. You remain the owner of the Domain name at all times, whether it was purchased from us or not. Keep your Domain name to less than 30 characters and make sure it is easy to spell otherwise your customers may land on your competitor’s page!
